WBAL Reports on Possible Discovery Violations
On July 5th, Judge Barry G. Williams ruled that state prosecutors violated discovery rules by not turning documents over to the defense, and as a result may not use thousands of pages of training documents in the trial of Lieutenant Rice.
In anticipation of the beginning of Lieutenant Rice’s trial, WBAL asked Baltimore Defense Attorney, Warren Alperstein, to provide insight into the possible turns the trial could take. Though Rice’s trial is currently set to be heard by a jury, Alperstein predicts that it is likely Rice will ask for a bench trial during Tuesday’s hearing, given the recent defense victory for Officer Goodson.
