Warren Alperstein Offers Legal Insight to WBAL
State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby continues to face pressure from the public as pre-trial motions begin for Police Lt. Brian Rice. Rice has been charged with manslaughter, assault, reckless endangerment and two counts of misconduct in office. Yet, in the past week, Lt. Rice, along with the three other officers, have filed motions to dismiss.
Legal Analyst, Warren Alperstein, spoke with Maryland’s News This Week and stated that “he does not expect Judge Williams to dismiss the case, and will likely argue he needs to hear evidence in each of the trials.” Mr. Alperstein went on to comment about the status of the jury trial scheduled for Lt. Rice, in which he suggested that “it is likely Rice will ask for a bench trial.”
