Warren Alperstein Offers Legal Analysis of Officer Caesar Goodson’s Acquittal
Legal Analyst, Warren S. Alperstein, was recently quoted in The New York Times regarding the latest verdict in the trials of the officers implicated in the death of Freddie Gray. Of the six officers, Officer Caesar Goodson faced the most serious charges—facing a murder charge among six other offenses. The acquittal of Officer Goodson is a devastating hit to the prosecution, leaving many unanswered questions as to the state’s ability to prove their case.
When asked about State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby, Mr. Alperstein stated “If she abandons the prosecution of the four remaining trials, the only interpretation of that is that she has been defeated – certainly that does not bode well politically for her, on the other hand, how far do you take this when you’re oh for three?”
