Was Officer Porter Unaware of a New Seat Belt Policy?
Warren S. Alperstein was quoted in a recent Reuters article regarding the trial of Officer William Porter in the death of Freddie Gray. After one week of testimony, prosecutors must now prove that Officer Porter knew he was violating policy when he placed Gray into the police van without seat belting him.
Mr. Alperstein noted that the defense likely pursued an argument grounded in common sense and logic by posing a question to the jury similar to, “Do you read every email you get within a day or two… without being prompted?”
